‘This place is creepy,’ Cecy breathed as they climbed, ‘And also it’s a long way to the second floor.’ She could hear the other girl answer quietly, ‘I think this place was designed to be a hotel, ghost-themed maybe. Adds to the fun of the amusement park. Usually, this place wouldn’t be so empty, so it would not be as frightening as now.’
‘I’m not frightened,’ Cecy said, attempting to convince herself. Lydia’s face was hidden in the dim light, but Cecy could swear that she must have known. The hand that grasped hers tightened reassuringly as they continued to walk onwards, higher.
They had left the normal lights behind and were now totally under the mercy of the candles. Cecy couldn’t help up think of the mysterious candle-lit hallways, much like this one, that Lydia had led herself and Alberto through many times now, and the memory made her shoulders relax.
It was just an adventure, nothing more. It was cowardly of her to want to run away from the castle and the explosion Lydia had mentioned. After all, she had told Cecy that they were not in the same world. So why did Cecy feel just a bit uneasy?
