Then you'd probably hate this novel if Roselle was the protagonist instead since he pretty much plagiarized everything over. Though I wouldn't say Throne of Magical Arcana is that bad, just not as good as LoTM. And even if Lucien copied all those works, you can't really say he accomplished nothing himself. It still takes a lot of skill and intelligence to understand how to adapt and reproduce all that music and science for his new world.

I think the point is to describe the advancement of science in a thrilling and exciting way which it succeeds in my opinion. Also the fact that he deeply understands all these things and actually makes experiments to confirm them shows that he’s actually a good scientist. Later on he even diverges from the theory’s of earth to try to explain magic, and even solves unique conundrums of the world. He helps adapt technology from earth into a magical version, and he does write an original opera. I see how you are put off by the fact that many of his achievements aren’t entirely his own, but if you ignore that and focus on how he used the knowledge to improve his own power as well as the advancements of science that somewhat mirror the real world you might enjoy it.
