No matter how much charity work she does, she will never be part of "them" as long as she gets a different treatment. Jealousy and other negative feelings can't be avoided if she is only willing to help and not actually be part of the crowd herself... She is very aware of how she Appears in Melissa's eyes with her neat cucumber sandwich and carrot cake.... She just wants to know if she would be accepted regardless of her priviledged status.
