【FICTION】Diddy Jack's Missing Tooth
(1131 words)
“You dare take that out in front of my eyes!”
I held onto the fragments of the tooth. Dad told Mom to stop. Shadows on the wall formed into the shape of enormous wings. My dragon. It’s whispering.
12:15. Shouts and laughs rang like some distant phantasm, penetrating my heart like shooting arrows. The sky was gray and heavy yet clear as an over-filtered photograph, foreshadowing a summer storm. Always nice to have some showers, because then everybody’s gonna stay all indoors instead of hanging around on the playground and I’d no longer be alone in the 2nd floor classroom. But then I recalled what Ms. Lee told us about how “alone” and “lonely” differ and I thought maybe nothing’s gonna help. Hope I brought an umbrella. No one’d lend me one anyway. Never.
