Chapter 2 The Sleeping Wife

For the students in forensic faculty, the sophomore year and the junior year are the nightmare for them. The four-year medicine theoretical courses must be completed within three years for forensic students. Although I was studious, I didn’t conquer the courses coming one after another in the sophomore year, like physiology, biochemistry, pathology, pathophysiology, parasitology and other onerous courses. Biochemistry and parasitology, I didn’t pass the two courses. So that summer vacation, I stayed at home, reviewed the courses, didn’t participate the practice, until the next summer vacation, I came back to the Forensic Clinic.Forensic grass-roots work was not so exciting as good as imaged. Forensic technicians not only lead the charge in detecting the murder cases, but also concentrate more vigor on the interminable injury identification and occasional appeared unnatural death incidents.
The reason why we use occasional appeared unnatural death incidents to express is that: after finishing the preliminary work in this kind of cases and combining the simple investigation situation with crime scene investigation, forensic technicians must confirm whether they are homicide murder. If so, we call them cases, and we need a further step to autopsy and detection. Otherwise, we call them incidents, and corpses will be given to family members to handle with. If we consider the incidents as the cases, it will waste heavy police and vigor. When the investigation work cannot continue, after reviewing it, we find it wrong, take it as case, forensic technician will be universally condemned. If we mistake the cases for incidents, which will result in wrongful conviction. Every year, more than ten thousand unnatural death incidents happen, we have to allocate two forensic technicians to serve each incident. Each forensic technician has to handle with more than seventy incidents. Of course, inspection and identification work of traffic accidents do not include in incidents.
