She unsheathed her hair clip and knocked on the top of them. They shifted into two baseball mats. I knew she was trying to protect me if it wasn’t me she might be able to get away minutes ago. I felt guilty. Even though I am only a month older than her, I knew I should’ve done something.
“Le……leave her alone! ”I shouted, “You said your target was me!”
Della stared at me, and in my eyes, there were slowly changing back to cheerleaders. I suddenly can’t move and have a strong urge to be close with them and stop Emily from hurting them. I closed my eyes. This can’t be my thought. I heard people around us murmuring, groaning about the mess we are causing here.
The passengers! If I could get them to know what these monsters really are……or even better, turning them into something that’s not allowed on planes, I could get them to slow down these empousai and make time for us to escape. If the empousai were busy chasing us, they won’t harm the mortals.
I turned to Emily. “Can you make ten seconds for me? ”
She frowned. “I guess, yeah. But what……”
“Just give me some time. ”I closed my eyes. I imagined the empousai in my mind, tracing their contour line. Then I used all my will power to re-traced the three monsters. I imagined them as three dogs, welsh corgi Pembroke, barking in front of me. I heard barking noises.
