“Oh. ”I looked away. I don’t know what else to say, even if I had never even met my mom and my dad died when I was little, I still had my big brothers around me, and the neighbors, my aunt, they’re all really kind to me. I can’t imagine a six-year-old little girl living alone. Maybe that explained why Emilia was always excited and acting crazy, maybe she was just trying to form protection, hiding her emotions from other people, running away from the past.
Emily smiled, but I knew she was forcing herself to act normal. “You know, you’re very lucky to have your big brothers with you all the time. ”
I tried to change the topic with her, “Until today. ”
She gave me a small grin, her blue eyes staring straight at me. “I’m not just saying. I used to have a friend whose like a brother to me before. ”
Her expression scared me, it is hard to focus when a pretty girl was looking right into your eyes, almost like sucking your soul out. “What happened? Did he died or something? ”I asked, then realizing it was kind of not nice.
“No, he was gone. We used to live very near, in Bristol. He……he’s the one that leads me out from the death of my mother, telling me I wasn’t alone after the Williams moved away. But later on, we had a fight, a big argument. Then he was gone, probably moved away somewhere. I……I’ve never met him since then. ”She made a pause when she said the last sentence, and I can feel she was lying, hiding about something. I decided not to ask, it was hard for her to told me, a random boy who she’d only knew for less than 3 hours all about her past.
