The Passage to Lusfield - 洛斯菲尔德之行(12)
I waited for the lesson to start. He began by claiming the good mercy of god's opinion on mankind and the sin human beings have. Then he asked me what do I think of life. I responded in a serious and heretic manner, but he seems lighthearted and started his theory of life's purposes, that sin was given upon births, and other Ripenist talking. I interrupted his lecture and asked if people carry sin from birth, if people are not obliged to have sex, would these sinful souls still have to opportunity to reclaim and salvage? he responded that sins are determined when one's born, which was another bullshit to me. I asked him if I can't control my crimes and didn't remember I committed them, whether I should be born and be responsible and be punished. He said that this mindset was a heresy called Calvinism. I smiled and prepared to leave, but just as I stood up he grabbed my wrist and asked me to sit down. The archbishop told me he has seen people like me encounter bad luck in their careers. I replied calmly as I have already inherited my father's properties, a horse racecourse, a grape plantation, and an entire villa, which cleared out my wary of career misfortune. I then claimed that I understand that this conversational lesson was a citizen's obligation and apologized for my immoderate behaviors and lack of social courtesy. He smiled and started his talk about the obligation of man. I refused a second hearing. he sighed and told me one sentence, that residents had to follow their destined and government-suggested career path as a checklist, which was just our obligations as citizens. I thanked him and farewell with a hat-off.
