Maybe a little of both. He could have gotten rid of his madness and the corruption from the Primordial Moon but he could also have been corrupted by whatever weirdness is on the island. He apparently got rid of that corruption before it’s possible it could have come back or a different entity could have corrupted and that affected his mausoleum after he died and Klein and Bernadette will have to figure out how to remove the new corruption. The worst case scenario is that some Outer Deity hijacked Roselle’s revival ritual and plans to make use of it to breach the barrier and that’s how the apocalypse prophecy come to fruition instead of bethel Abraham being released like it’s been implied.
