Chapter Eight(20)
‘I can answer most of the questions you ask. But first, it’s late, and let’s start the countdown.’
‘The countdown?’
‘You have watched movies, right? Isn’t that supposed to a regular procedure? I’m pretty sure I didn’t do it wrong......’ Red light shimmered on one of the walls beside the window, slowly forming vertical and horizontal lines. ‘Ta-da! It’s thirty minutes till explosion.’
The clock ticked slowly to twenty-nine in the midst of her sentence. She paused——it was definitely a girl, and maybe younger than Cecy was.
‘Find your way out of here. Your companion is coming to find you. Oh, and just one hint.’ Her voice was as cheerful as a child expecting a present. ‘This room doesn’t exist.’
Cecy remembers clearly what happened next, but suddenly her vision grows foggy. Confused, she blinks, and the image comes back into focus. Except she is no longer watching through Cecy’s eyes, but Lydia’s. Now accustomed to the strangeness of this place, she decides not to fuss. After all, there must be a reason that she is watching, much like the fractured dreams hidden in her past.
