The Wheels under the Curtain of Night(5)
I didn’t care about this adventure any longer until the new semester. At the first class of the new semester, I found Mr. Wang had disappeared. Did he leave? I went to the teachers’ office to ask the teachers this question. Our new class teacher said: “Mr. Wang cannot go to school any longer, he had gotten sick. He maybe was going to another city to take treatments. I am very sorry about this.”
“Oh, my god, how bad today!” I could not believe this and ran out from the office. In the afternoon, Qing and I went to the hospital where Mr. Wang lived. We saw Mr. Wang lying on the bed with a frail body.
“How are you, Mr. Wang. Do you feel better?” We asked.
“Oh, you come to see me. Err, sure! I am better.” He replied.
We talked for half an hour. At the end of the time, Mr. Wang said earnestly:
“Tian and Qing, you are both good boys. If you study very hard, I promise you will have a good future. And I also want to tell you. Everyone has their own responsibility. My responsibility is teaching you to be good students and protect your safety. And your responsibility is that you study very well and are worthy to the people who care about you and help you. A good man needs to respond to his saying and behavior. You must listen to me, ok?”
