在高尔基的小说《童年》中，吝啬的外祖父，愚昧残忍的舅舅们，冷漠的母亲、奸诈的继父和凶恶的街坊都反映了人们愚昧落后，自私野蛮、目光短浅、因循守旧、人性泯灭等性格特点。小说《童年》是高尔基著名的自传体三部曲中的第一部，还有两部分别叫《在人间》和《我的大学》。
看完了小说《童年》之后，我真为现在的和谐社会和温暖家庭感到幸福，所以我要发奋努力地学习来回报社会。
