爱玛同样以自己方式帮助别人的是书中的主要男主角，奈特利先生。奈特利先生我认为是在全书中最为明智的一个人物。奥斯丁把奈特利放在最清醒的地位，用他的语言指出她认为的社会的恶习。他对于那个“认为自己所作所为并不感到悔恨，依然认为自己在判断女性权利和女子的微妙心理方面比他能力强”的爱玛是包容的。又如，在一次舞会上，看到社会地位低下的哈丽特·史密斯小姐受到轻蔑的冷遇时，他挺身而出，协助她度过难堪局面，对谄上欺下的行为进行打击。与爱玛相反的是，他鼓励地位相符的哈丽特和罗伯特·马丁之间的真情相爱，便给予一定的帮助，让有情人终成眷属。奈特利先生是在本书中我比较喜欢的角色之一。

Emma–the fourth, longest and last of Jane Austen’s books to appear in print during her lifetime, Emma is considered a classic romantic comedy and was first published in 1816.
