金融业也是物竞天择，追求fitness 而不是 goodness ，冒险而不是保持道德，这样才能赚大钱、出高薪、招人才，避免在竞争中被淘汰。对于世界的真相，永远是弱肉强食，2：8原则才是普遍原则，公平与正义永远只能是相对的，能做到机会公平就很不错了，更不用说实质公平。
影片中的另外一个角度就是对于普通人的质问。金融危机后，示威者举牌抗议，发起占领华尔街运动。可是，没有普通人的贪婪，金融危机能发生吗?把责任都推到华尔街精英身上，公平吗?导演用一段华尔街老人教育新人的话点题：

The only reason they all get to continue living like kings isbecause we’ve got our fingers on the scales in their favor.
